We’re striving to create a team of trainers & instructors that have higher expectations of horses by developing a better understanding of the horse's mind and how they communicate.
Windwalker Academy is broken down into 2 phases:
• Phase #1: Internship
Complete our extensive internship training program. During the internship, you will have the opportunity to experience life on the farm and gain insight into our daily operations. Along with gaining the necessary skills needed to teach both horses and people effectively and confidently. At the same time, we will observe how you collaborate with our team and adapt to our team culture. This phase will pave the way for you to transition into a long term instructor position. We do have a guest bedroom available for out of state interns.
What Phase #1 consists of:
• Day-to-day life with us on the farm.
• Help with the daily operation of the farm which includes feeding, chores, farm work, and program assistance.
• Introduction to our natural horsemanship program and farm school programs.
• Personal lessons, trail riding, groundwork sessions, instructor training, and horse training seminars.
• We can work with you to create a schedule that fits your needs, but we request that you maintain a consistent schedule with the same days/times each week.
• Phase #2: Long Term Instructor
Join our team as a paid instructor and continue your never ending educational journey in natural horsemanship. Generally, after 3 to 5 years of phase #2 we allow our interns the opportunity to be coached through starting one of our colts. Not all applicants will be accepted into Phase #2.
Applications can be filled out at the bottom of this page. Once your application is received we will contact you to schedule an interview.
Applicants must be at least 17 or older, have reliable transportation, and must be physically fit with full mobility. We’re looking for applicants that are passionate, driven, have a heart for people (especially children) and animals.
