Jr. Ranch Hand Program

Program Details:

Our Jr. Ranch Hand Program gives kids a hands on and in-depth look at how to care for horses. They will walk away from this program having a good grasp on responsibility, what a good work ethic looks like, team work skills, self awareness, and a sense of accomplishment. Kids will also have an hour riding lesson and get introduced to natural horsemanship. 


The course runs 9am to 2pm, 1 day a week for 4 weeks. For ages 10+. Limit 4 students per group. No make up days or refunds for missed classes. 


We offer this program Tuesdays and Thursdays  April through August. For the months of September and October we offered the program on Thursdays. We pause for the coldest months November through March.


Prerequisite: Must have a level Intro & Zero completed and be a Level 1 or higher in our lesson program.


Example Of What Their Day Will Consist Of:

9am: Drop off time | Team huddle | Getting prepared for the day.


9:15am: Feed horses breakfast, clean up after feeding, water the horses , restock grain bins , and tidy up around the farm.


10am: Small Animal Care (Rabbits, Cats, Dogs, & Goats coming late Spring).


11am: Chore Time: Learning to mend fences, horse care, and farm care.


11:30am: Muck the horses stalls and  paddocks.


Noon: Lunch Time.


12:30pm: Odds and ends around the farm


12:45pm: Tidy up & prepare for lesson


1pm: Riding lesson.


2pm: Pick up time.


Spring 2023 Program Schedule:

April #1: Tuesdays | April 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th 

April #2: Thursdays | April 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th


May #1: Tuesdays | May 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd

May #2: Thursdays | May 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th


June #1: Tuesdays | June 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

June #2: Thursdays | June 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th



Summer 2023 Program Schedule:

July #1: Tuesdays | July 5th*, 11th, 18th, and 25th

(*7/5 is a Wednesday due to Tuesday 7/4 being a holiday)

July #2: Thursdays | July 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th


August #1: Tuesdays | August t 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd

August #2: Thursdays | August 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th


Fall 2023 Program Schedule:

September: Thursdays | September 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th


October: Thursdays | October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th


Program Cost:

$350 | $150 non refundable deposit due to hold slot. Remaining $200 due first day.

What To Bring:

•Water bottle.

•Lunch (we have a fridge and microwave).

•Snacks.

•Bag with a change of clothes. Farm work can be messy.

•Must wear jeans, pants, or leggings. NO shorts. 

•Muck boots (or boots / shoes that can get wet and dirty).

•Work/Garden Gloves.

•Summer: Bug Spray & Sunscreen

•Please have your child dress weather appropriate and bring extra layers in the Fall and Spring for brisk mornings.

•Waiver (you can print and fill out or fill one out at drop off on the first day).

•Riding Helmet (if you don’t have one we have several).
